CHRIS STITES, SAFETY ENGINEERING AND CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

We are excited to announce that our TNRMT Safety Grant Program had an overwhelming response in its inaugural year. Thank you all for the grant applications that we received!

We received applications totaling more than $536,000 from over 45 members.

The criteria to receive a grant is that all projects must have a direct impact on employee safety or the reduction of liability exposures. Our goal was to ensure that the funds impact safety from a proactive perspective.

The Risk Management Trust takes safety very seriously and we hope these grants will help our members actively pursue a strong safety culture. Our primary goal is to reduce and eliminate workplace injuries by providing and improving opportunities for the identification and elimination of risk.

While the TNRMT board initially approved $20,000 for this project, due to the many excellent suggestions received, we are happy to be awarding safety grants directly to our members of more than $63,000. Grants that were approved include outside lighting, arc flash protective suits, building a lineman training yard, freezer door replacement and floor repair to eliminate icing and fall suppression confined space entry equipment. These grants should have immediate benefit to the well-being of our members and their staff. The following are our 2018 Safety Grant recipients:

23rd Judicial Task Force
Carter County Schools
Carter County Government
Chester County Solid Waste
City of Mt. Juliet
Dickson County Schools
Humphreys County Schools
Jackson County Schools
Lawrenceburg Utility District
North Stewart Utility District
West Carroll Special Schools
The Tennessee Risk Management Trust will be delivering checks to the grant recipients over the next 2 weeks.
