Bus Rodeo 2026

Cheatham County Schools recently hosted the 2026 School Bus Rodeo, welcoming participants from Montgomery County, Cheatham County, Humphreys County, Houston County, Dickson County, Robertson County, Putnam County, and Wilson County.

TNRMT was proud to support the event by providing lunch and providing a loss control representative to judge. Winners from each class or type will advance to compete internationally in Texas, with Dickson County, Wilson County, and Montgomery County representing Tennessee.

The course consisted of ten stations, ranging from tight alleyways to curbside pickup and many challenges in between. Each station tested drivers’ awareness of their bus’s limitations, hazard recognition, communication skills, and ability to safely perform essential transportation tasks.

We recognize that school bus drivers face tremendous responsibility every day. Navigating highways and byways while protecting students is no easy task, especially in a role that receives significant public scrutiny and involves constant distractions. We applaud and thank every driver who chooses to provide safe transportation for our kids.

Events like the Bus Rodeo create valuable opportunities for drivers to practice, sharpen their skills, and demonstrate excellence in safety. TNRMT is committed to being more than a risk management provider; we strive to be a beneficial partner to all our members.

Our Board of Trustees includes representatives from six school districts who understand the importance of maintaining safe, reliable transportation for Tennessee students. We applaud those districts who participated and hope to see growth in participation as the years progress. We are proud to support programs that promote safety, training, and excellence in pupil transportation.

Special thanks to the organizers Cal Blacker, Kenny Hardaway, Melissa Garton, and staff. Well done and thank you for all your hard work!
