Historical Summary
Created in 1987 under the auspices of the Tennessee Governmental Tort Liability Act, TNRMT provided the much needed governmental insurance coverage lacking in the commercial market.
The TNRMT Board of Directors consists of school, county and utility board members and officials from across the State of Tennessee. The INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT, signed and approved by both the participating governmental entity or school and the TNRMT, establishes the legal relationship between the two entities.
In addition to providing tailored property, liability and workers compensation coverage, the Members reap the benefit of professional loss control services, employee training for loss containment, prompt payment of claims, and stability of market. Experienced claims representatives assist the entities in avoiding potential law suits.
The goal of the TNRMT is to provide its Members with coverage and services that address their needs and unique exposures in a changing world, while controlling the cost to the Member. The welfare of its Members is the prime concern of TNRMT.
